Ephemeral through self, ephemeral through art. “Efemeride” is a story about experiences, agreements, time and emotions displayed through the means of contemporary jewelry. The theme of the exhibit had as a source of inspiration insects of the order Ephemeroptera, which have a one day lifespan. Extrapolated to jewelry level, the contrast between ephemeral and perennial becomes much more visible. Traditionally, jewelry is seen as a long lasting object, a heirloom passed from one generation to the next, which keeps accumulating emotional and material traits. But what happens if we give jewelry an ephemeral characteristic? Can the conventional value of the material be replaced with a subjective value, derived from emotional experience?
In 2010, Assamblage, School of Contemporary Jewelry was founded and along with it, hope of new beginnings for a new artistic community in Romania. A short evaluation after 5 years, yields a promising perspective: over 300 graduates, tens of clasess, projects, exhibits, but also a dynamic growth among the contemporary jewelry fans.. The 5 year anniversary of Assamblage, School of Contemporary Jewelry was celebrated at the Italian Cultural Institute with a substantial cultural event that held contemporary jewelry exhibits, wine tasting, classic guitar recital and last but not least, a long awaited anniversary party.
