The Story
Assamblage Association
Assamblage - The National Association of Contemporary Jewelry Authors and Designers was launched in May 2015. It is the result of an ongoing 9 year project which aims to support, develop and structure the surfacing field of contemporary jewelry. From 2020, Assamblage Association is the organiser of Romanian Jewelry Week, and since 2023 it becomes official member of The European Federation of Jewellery.
Assamblage is currently Romania’s main and most active platform dedicated to author jewelry, upholding, in the cultural context of the past few years, it’s contribution to the exponential growth of activity in the field of jewelry design, while maintaining a strong bond with adjacent fields, such as architecture, product design, fashion industry and visual arts.

In a span of 5 years, between 2015 and 2020, Assamblage has rooted it’s presence in over 30 projects and fairs, both national and international: London Fashion Week, Romanian Design Week, Milano Jewelry Week, Joya Barcelona, BOZAR Bruxelles, Designblok – Prague Design and Fashion Week and Athens Jewelry Week, with the involvement of over 100 Romanian and international contemporary jewelry designers from all over the world. In 2020, the first edition of our most substantial cultural project is starting to take shape, an event dedicated to the 10 year anniversary since Assamblage was founded - ROMANIAN JEWELRY WEEK .

COMMUNITY
Assamblage is a non-governmental organization which strives for the recognition and endorsement of jewelry as a self-reliant form of art and also for the visibility growth of designers inside the artistic community, the media and the general public, both at a national and international level. An important recognition in that regard was the nomination of Assamblage at the 2017 AFCN Awards, in the “Cultural Entrepreneurship” category, as well as being selected for the Civil Society Gala official competition in 2018 and 2019.
EVents & Fairs
>>Events and fairs organized by the association, in cooperation with art galleries, museums, cultural spaces and partners from adjacent creative fields;
>>Encouraging emerging talents and stimulating transnational mobility for contemporary jewelry makers and their art pieces, through attendance at exhibits and fairs from all over the world.
COMmunity & NETWORKING
>>Support and incentives for creative activities in the field of contemporary jewelry, through the development of a scholarship system, grants and artistic residencies;
>>Development and support for co-op and coworking programs between members of the association and guest designers.
TRAINING & MENTORing
>>Organizing meetings, conferences, workshops and developing instruments that support the exchange of information and practices in this field;
>>Elaborating pilot projects among large audiences for the purpose of gaining new skills and knowledge regarding contemporary jewelry.
Promoting & VIsibility
>> The growth of recognition and visibility for artists and contemporary jewelry makers through information campaigns, brand strategies, along with artistic and cultural programs, involving events, tours, exhibits, national and international festivals;
>>Development of association's own written materials (magazines, catalogs, brochures, etc.)
