“When the last tree will be cut, when the last fish will be caught and the last river will be poisoned, only than we will realize that money is not edible.”
“Remains of the feast” is an interactive installation in which contemporary jewelry and modern media become mirrors of a society of consumption and waste. The exhibit signed by Assamblage - National Association of Contemporary Jewelry Authors and Designers presents 20 designers, visual artists and architects, which explore the sense and meaning of materials, production techniques and also the design potential of asking questions about sustainability, recycling and responsible consumption.
Going back to the mythical table of Midas, in a luxurious golden decor, we discover what we leave behind, following a "feast" that has exhausted all our resources. In a time when fast-fashion has become the second most polluting industry in the world, preceded only by that of petrol, a time in which we spend more than enough money to stop world hunger on diets and a time in which pollution levels are in a continuous ascension, the project raises questions about responsibility and action.
The exhibit was launched at Galateca Gallery in 2018, as a part of Museum White Night and Romanian Jewelry Week. Later on it was showcased in an ample series of similar events throughout Europe: Joya Barcelona, Legnica Silver Festival, Milano Artistar Jewels and Athens Jewelry Week.
