Call for Applications - ROMANIAN JEWELRY WEEK 2022

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION


ROMANIAN JEWELRY WEEK is an international event organized by Assamblage National Jewelry Association, dedicated to the contemporary jewelry field in Romania and worldwide. Assamblage is currently the main and most active platform in Romania dedicated to author jewelry, with a large area or educational and cultural activities (a portfolio of over 30 projects and exhibitions in the past 7 years).

The first edition of Romanian Jewelry Week was organised between the 22-27th of September 2020 in 7 galleries, museums and showrooms in Bucharest. Over 150 contemporary jewelry designers presented their collections at ROJW 1.0: designers, collectives, schools and associations of designers from UK, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Germany, Hungary, Canada, Israel, China, South Korea, USA, Brazil, Mexico and many more. The format of event includes each year a large area of exhibitions, fairs, conferences, workshops, seminars and guided tours.

The second edition took place between the 30 sept - 3rd of October 2021 in 6 locations in Bucharest and gathered an impressive 191 contemporary jewelry designers from over 25 countries around the world that presented their collections at Romanian Jewelry Week 2.0, as well as six renowned group exhibitions, schools and international associations. Through Assamblage, ROJW is integrated in the international map of jewelry events alongside active partners such as Milano Jewelry Week, Budapest Jewelry Week, The Lisbon Jewelry Biennale, Legnica Silver Festival and many more.

1. Eligibility criteria and categories

The application is open to all contemporary jewelry designers, artists, collectives, schools, associations or institutions from Romania and abroad, regardless of age, education and experience. Terms and conditions for each categories are mentioned bellow.

3. How to apply?

All applications must contain the following materials

1. The online application form available on www.romanianjewelryweek.com

2. Photos of at least 5 pieces proposed for selection. Preferably white backround, but also model or other set-ups are accepted. Resolution min 300 dpi. Each photo will contain in the description information about name, object type, year, materials, dimensions. Example - “JohnSmith_brooch_euphorya_2022_sterlingsilver_wood_9x5cm”.

*For collective exhibitions, at least one photo must be sent for each proposed designer. 3. Selection/collection concept - max 500 characters

3. International Jury

Each year, the ROMANIAN JEWELRY WEEK awards are decided upon by an international jury board. In 2021, it was structured by 6 members.

- Bernadette Pinet-Cuoq (President of the European Federation of Jewellery and French Haute Ecole de Joaillerie in Paris)

- Paulo Ribeiro (Director general at JOYA Barcelona Art Jewellery & Objects)

- Justyna Teodorczyk (Director of The Gallery Of Art In Legnica, Poland) a

- Byron Vafeiadis (Curator of Education and Collections at Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum in Athens).

Special awards were also given by Cluster Jewelry London, Milano Jewelry Week and Lost in Jewelry Magazine.


4. Event dates and deadlines

2.1. Applications are opened for all categories between the 17th of March 2022 to the 17th of June 2022.

2.2. Applications will be analysed by the jury and starting with the 1st of July 2022 the selection of participants will be announced.

2.3. The event will take place between the 6th - 9th of October 2021. The full schedule, list of locations and events will be announced later on to selected participants.
