OPEN CALL - Israel Biennale of Contemporary Jewelry
The theme chosen this year for the Biennale is "Colorful Recovery". After a long period of uncertainty, insecurity, fear, and sometimes even despair one begins to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's time to add color and joy to our lives.
Applicant Eligibility
The Israel Biennale for contemporary jewelry is open to anyone: professional, studying, emerging artists working in the field of jewelry. Candidates from all countries and nationalities are eligible to participate.

The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the above prize list for reasons beyond the organizer’s control.
Jury
A Jury of experts appointed by the organizer will assess and select the artworks. The organizer will not be part of the Jury.
Rachel Sasporta - The Geological Museum Senior Curator.
Nichka Marobin - Art historian and founder of The Morning Bark, a blogazette on arts and humanities.
Chequita Nahar - Jewelry designer, tutor, and curator.
The Jury’s decision is final and shall not be subject to verification.
Entry criteria
Artworks must relate to the theme. Artists are invited to present 1 to a maximum of 3 artworks. Only digital images (jpg file, no more than 2MB each, resolution of min. 300 dpi) shall be accepted. The artist may present freely his vision of the theme. The artist has complete freedom in choosing the materials, mediums, and sizes of the artworks. Jewels presented must be original, one-of-a-kind, and created within the last 2 years.
Requirements
1 to 3 finished pieces per artist.
Artworks should have been created within the last 2 years (2020-2022).
No modification nor add up allowed after the submission and/or selection.
For each artwork submitted 2 (two), professional-quality photos of the artwork (clear background, front, back; JPG format 300x300 mm, minimum 300 dpi).

For the application to be accepted by the organizer, all the above requirements must be met.
Application Fee
To be eligible for jurying, the artist must first pay the application fee
(30€ - professional artist, 20€ - student) to be paid via PayPal.

Upon selection: participation fee of 35€ + return of artworks shipping costs.

Key dates
Deadline for submitting applications: 23/06/22.
Notification of selected participants: The end of August 2022.
The awards winner announcement: 13/11/22.
Biennale Dates: 10/11/22 – 14/11/22.
Selection
The artist candidates will be informed of the Jury choice by email. The list of artists selected will be published on social media.
Shipment, Return, Customs, and Insurance
The works will be insured by the museum throughout the storage and exhibition period.
The arriving entries will be handled with the greatest possible care.
Artists are responsible to cover all expenses for sending and insuring their artworks to reach the organizer.
All the shipping costs including handling fees, customs, etc. should be borne by the entrants.
We do not accept parcels from couriers or forwarders that charge custom duties on delivery. (i.e., we do not accept any parcels for which the entrants do not bear all necessary transportation costs.)
The organizer will not bear any responsibility for accidents, damage, loss, or other problems that occur during the works transport to the submission venue.
The entrants may optionally apply for the appropriate insurance.

Disclaimers
Entrants hold all of the rights regarding the entered works; however, entrant agrees to the following:
The organizer reserves the right to exhibit the selected works and publish them in the official catalog and advertising paper.
The organizer reserves the rights regarding the use of photo images and the information on the entrants in advertising media, including social networking sites, regardless of print or electronic forms.
The organizer reserves the rights regarding the interpretation and quotes in lectures and similar events.
Cautions
The organizer will not accept any questions regarding the jury's results.
In any of the following cases, entries will not be judged;
Submission of incomplete documents, unpaid fee, if an entry is regarded as a fake design, customs duty is claimed from the organizer.
Time limit and closing date
The Call is open from March 01, 2022, to June 23rd, 2022. Any application received after June 23rd, 2022, will not be accepted.
Organization
The organizer will be in charge of the entire exhibition (installation and supervision of the artworks) as well as of the advertising and the publication of the artworks (printed catalog and online platforms).
The selected pieces will be displayed at the Geological Museum between 10/11/21 – 14/11/22
The organizer might be the link between artists and potential buyers, but no sale commission will be charged. The exhibited artworks may in no case be removed from the exhibition before the end of the event.
Consent
By applying to the Open Call, the artist agrees to the organizer’s use of photographs of the art material provided, as well as any taken during the exhibition, to be used in different media outlets, such as the web, social media, catalogs, posters, magazines, video, etc. Assignment of the right of media reproduction granted by the artist is non-exclusive, non-transferable, unlimited territory for the distribution of reproductions.
Participation in the Open Call does not involve any transfer of ownership of the artworks. All texts and photographs made available by the artist to the organizer are protected by copyright and remain the exclusive property of the artist. Any distribution or other uses are prohibited apart from agreements established in writing. The artist will be credited in all communications managed by the organizer.
Responsibilities
The selected artworks will be covered under the terms of the insurance contract of the organizer during the exhibition and the storage period. Transportation, delivery, and returns will not be covered by the organizer's insurance. The artist is invited to have their own insurance.
Cancellation and reimbursement
The organizer has the right to cancel any participation based on false information or if the participant fails to comply with the criteria and dates specified. Cancellation by the participant holds a 100% penalty of the total value of the participation fee.
The organizer reserves the right to cancel the event in which case the application fee will not be refunded, only the participation fee will be reimbursed.
